Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 tube refrigerated pizza crust

Filling

  • 6 tablespoons pasta or marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • About 12 slices of pepperoni

Optional Garnish

  • Dried oregano, for optional garnish
  • Olive oil, for optional brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to ensure the pizza pockets don’t stick and for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough onto the parchment paper or a lightly floured surface. Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough into 6 equal-sized squares.
  3. Add the Filling: On one half of each dough square, spoon 1 tablespoon of pasta or marinara sauce. Then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by placing 2 slices of pepperoni on top for a flavorful filling.
  4. Seal the Pockets: Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle. Firmly press the edges together using a fork to seal the filling securely inside so it doesn’t leak during baking.
  5. Optional Garnish: For a beautifully golden crust and extra flavor, lightly brush the top of each pizza pocket with olive oil. Then sprinkle dried oregano and a little more mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Bake: Place the prepared pockets on the baking sheet and bake for 10 to 13 minutes. Bake until the pizza pockets are puffed up, golden brown, and the cheese inside is melted and bubbling.
  7. Serve: Allow the pockets to cool slightly before serving to avoid burns. Serve warm with additional warm pasta sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • You can customize the filling by adding veggies like mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives.
  • For a spicier option, use pepperoni with extra spices or add red pepper flakes inside.
  • Ensure the dough edges are sealed well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • Leftover pizza pockets can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
  • If using frozen pizza dough, thaw completely before working with it.
