A warm, creamy, and flavorful Chili Cheese Dip perfect for parties and snacking. Made with chili, cream cheese, shredded pepper jack and sharp cheddar cheese, and salsa, this dip is easy to prepare on the stovetop or in a slow cooker for convenience.

Ingredients

Scale

Chili Cheese Dip Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups chili (homemade or 2 (14 oz) cans store-bought, approximately 625g)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cut into cubes (113g)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (I use a blend of pepper jack and sharp cheddar, 226g)
  • 1/4 cup salsa (60g)
  • Cayenne pepper or hot sauce, optional for heat

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Cook the Dip: Stir constantly while cooking until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the cheese is bubbly and melted, about 5 minutes.
  3. Serve: Serve warm with tortilla chips, bread cubes, or vegetables. It is also great paired with a chili hot dog, over nachos, or baked potatoes.
  4. Slow Cooker Option: Spray the bottom of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray or use a liner. Place cream cheese cubes in the slow cooker, spread the chili over them, then add salsa, and top with shredded cheddar cheese. Cook on LOW for 1-3 hours. Stir until smooth and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can customize the heat level by adding cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce to taste.
  • If using canned chili, drain excess liquid if preferred to avoid a runny dip.
  • To make it vegetarian, use a meatless chili alternative.
  • Serve immediately for best texture; reheat gently if needed.
  • Ideal for parties, game days, or casual gatherings.
