Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 45 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast evenly over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active. Add the melted butter, eggs, and salt to the mixture, then gradually incorporate 4 to 5 cups of all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined. Set aside.
  4. Shape the Rolls: After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a 12 by 18-inch rectangle. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the surface. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal rolls.
  5. Second Rise: Place the rolls cut-side up into a greased baking dish. Cover and allow them to rise in a warm spot for 30 to 45 minutes until they become puffy.
  6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Knead the dough thoroughly to develop gluten, which results in a soft and fluffy texture.
  • You can substitute fresh parsley with dried parsley if fresh is not available, using about 2 tablespoons dried.
  • For a more pronounced garlic flavor, add an extra clove of minced garlic to the butter mixture.
  • These rolls are best served warm and can be reheated gently.
