A savory and indulgent Pizza Burger Pie combining seasoned ground beef, classic pizza toppings, and a golden, flaky pizza dough crust baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 2 cups ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup pizza sauce

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

Crust

  • 1 cup refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) to prepare for baking the pie.
  2. Cook Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat to keep the filling from being greasy.
  3. Season Beef: Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add the pizza sauce and mix thoroughly to combine all flavors. Remove from heat.
  4. Prepare Pie Dish: Lightly grease a pie dish with olive oil. Press half of the refrigerated pizza dough into the bottom and up the sides of the dish to form the crust base.
  5. Add Filling: Spoon the cooked and seasoned beef mixture evenly over the dough base. Then layer with shredded mozzarella cheese and sliced pepperoni.
  6. Top Crust: Roll out the remaining pizza dough and place it over the filling. Seal the edges by pinching the top and bottom dough together to prevent leaks.
  7. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top crust with beaten egg to achieve a shiny, golden-brown finish after baking.
  8. Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Cool & Serve: Allow the pizza burger pie to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing to set the filling and make serving easier.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture for added nutrition and flavor.
  • Use store-bought or homemade pizza sauce depending on preference.
  • Ensure to seal the dough edges well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • Letting the pie rest after baking helps the filling settle and avoids burns when serving.
