4.7 from 114 reviews

This Raspberry Hot Chocolate recipe combines the natural sweetness and tartness of fresh raspberries with creamy white chocolate for a unique, delicious twist on classic hot chocolate. Made with real fruit puree and smooth white chocolate, it’s a comforting, flavorful drink perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale

Raspberry Puree

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or honey)
  • 1 tablespoon water

Hot Chocolate

  • 3 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 drops natural red food coloring (optional)

Topping

  • Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the berries: In a small saucepan, combine the raspberries, sugar or honey, and water. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the berries begin to break down and release their juices.
  2. Puree the berries: Remove the saucepan from the heat and transfer the mixture to a blender. Blend until smooth to create a raspberry puree.
  3. Strain the puree: Pour the raspberry puree through a sieve to remove the seeds, using the back of a spoon to press the puree through if needed for a smooth texture.
  4. Heat the milk: In a medium saucepan over low heat, bring the milk to a gentle simmer while whisking constantly to avoid scalding. Remove from heat just before it reaches a full boil.
  5. Melt the white chocolate: Add the white chocolate chips to the hot milk and stir until completely melted and the mixture is smooth. If the chocolate isn’t fully dissolved, return the saucepan to low heat and stir continuously.
  6. Combine flavors: Stir in the strained raspberry puree and vanilla extract until fully incorporated. Add 1 to 2 drops of natural red food coloring if a richer red color is desired.
  7. Serve: Divide the raspberry hot chocolate evenly into 4 mugs. Top each serving with whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence.

Notes

  • Use fresh or thawed raspberries for best flavor.
  • You can substitute honey for sugar for a natural sweetener.
  • White chocolate chips melt more smoothly if at room temperature.
  • Straining the puree removes tart seeds, resulting in a smoother texture.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or honey to taste.
  • For a vegan version, substitute dairy milk and white chocolate with plant-based alternatives.
