Filling Ingredients
- 250–300g ground pork
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp finely grated ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1 large egg
Wrapper
- 1 pack wonton wrappers (about 40–50 wrappers)
Serving
- Chili oil or chili sauce, as needed for coating
- Additional chopped green onions, for garnish
- Make the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onions, salt, and white pepper. Use your hand to mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Add the egg and mix again until the filling feels like a smooth and sticky paste.
- Assemble the Wontons: Use a tongue depressor or wooden stick to scoop about 1 teaspoon of filling and place it in the center of a wonton wrapper. Wrap the filling by folding and make a fist to seal the edges firmly, squeezing tightly to ensure no gaps. Carefully slide the wooden stick out and repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Cook the Wontons: Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Gently add the wontons into the water, stirring lightly with a spatula or spoon to prevent sticking. Cook until the wontons float to the surface, approximately 4-5 minutes, indicating they are fully cooked.
- Serve with Chili Oil: Transfer the cooked wontons carefully to a serving bowl. Drizzle generously with chili oil or your preferred chili sauce to coat each wonton. Garnish with additional chopped green onions for freshness and extra flavor. Serve hot for the best taste experience.
Notes
- Ensure the wonton wrappers are sealed tightly to prevent filling leakage during boiling.
- You can adjust the spiciness of the chili oil according to your taste preference.
- If preferred, these wontons can also be served in a light soup broth for a comforting wonton soup.
